The Chapel

    Amoré Wedding Chapel is located within the walls of the Lightner Building (formerly the Alcazar hotel and now home to the Lightner Museum and the St. Augustine City government). 

The Lightner was built in 1888 by Henry Flagler, a railroad magnate and oil tycoon, as a hotel and winter resort for the rich and famous of the day.

The royal palace of Seville, Spain with its Spanish Renaissance Revival style as evidenced by the towers, spires and terracotta tile ornamentation inspired the design of the building.

The sheer majesty of this building will delight you and your guest.  You enter through castle-like iron gates into foyers and passageways covered by 18-foot arched ceilings with antique lighting directing you toward a lush tropical garden filled with exotic plants and brightly colored coy lazily swimming in their spring fed canal. This is the most perfect setting for those bridal portraits.

In the chapel itself you will find the interior to be in keeping with the grandeur of the exterior.  Everything is steeped with the history of a time when personal attention to detail was part of everyday life.  Fully setup for weddings, the chapel offers an intimate and elegant atmosphere perfect for your day.

Now,  take a moment to picture your guests seated inside the Chapel, enjoying beautiful, soft music and the serenity of the environment and the moment.  Massive silver candelabras illuminate the altar area,  flanked by tropical plants against the backdrop of a 12-foot stain glass window.  White pews add warmth and an elegant ambianceto the ceremony.
